Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
City officials stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure said the incident left him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
